DAY #2: A Reference for friendship

As a Registered nurse of 13 years at the same facility I have developed a lot of professional and personal friendships. With that being said, there is rarely a month or so that does not go by that I do not receive a request to fill out a professional reference for one of my colleagues seeking a new position.

I take this very seriously and word has gotten around! I am the go to person.

I wonder..what would life be like if before accepting the friendship of another you required an open letter of recommendation? What would it look like?  Here goes..

I have had the pleasure of working with Jane/John Doe for #$ years in the professional capacity as friend. I have found her/him to be trustworthy, reliable, and dependable in the area of friendship.

Jane/John has demonstrated such skill through various personal and professional crises. Jane/John has been a leader in the collection of information and demonstrated the abilitliy of providing sound, logical, realistic advice in a multitude of situations.   She/He has been there when called upon to just listen objectively and most importantly has the unique ability to provide constructive criticism when the need arises. Equally valuable is  Jane’s/John’s capability of providing alternative, viable solutions to a single stiuation. A skill that is difficult to master in the best of circumstances. In addition Jane/John Doe has mastered the art of handholding, hugging and giving a great big smile in the face of adversity.

Based on my professional experience I highly recommend Jane/John Doe for this position.
